Energy Efficiency

Swimming pools lose energy in a variety of ways, but evaporation is by far the largest source of energy loss!

Evaporating water depletes tremendous amounts of energy.  It only takes one Btu (British thermal unit) to raise one pound of water 1° F, but each pound of 80° F water that evaporates takes a whopping 1,048 Btu of heat out of the pool.  A staggering 70% of energy lost from indoor pools is the result of evaporation.

Pools require room ventilation to control indoor humidity caused by the large amount of evaporation, which accounts for another 27% of lost energy.

Think GREEN!

GREEN as in the environmental impact a swimming pool has and your responsibility as the pool owner to reduce that impact. Swimming pools release chlorinated and brominated chemicals into the atmosphere causing the production of greenhouse gases that contribute to global warming. By investing in a pool cover, you are taking an active role in conserving the environment in which we all live and reducing the carbon footprint of your pool.

“…when we built our first 6 lane 25 yard pool and 4 lane 20 yard pool indoors... first water heating and water use bill for the month of November was over $5,000.  We invested in pool covers.  We used them every night.  Our water and heating bills never exceeded $1800 from that point on.”
